I was waiting for a lesson in the living room of my drum teacher and noticed one of his cats spying on me from under a chair. Don’t know his or her name but I’ve nicknamed “it” “sneaky.”

My friend Gary Sharp inherited a large, male Maine coon cat named Valentine with his house. Val loves his catnip mouse and also, it seems certain newspapers.

I was out in Los Angeles near UCLA recently and noticed what was either a copper beech tree or a coral tree that had many exposed roots. The tree was huge and the roots came out over 20 feet from the trunk, many above ground.
