Looking out the window

Flying from Connecticut to Los Angeles I was zoning out and figured I’d get some images.
I wish I’d thought to shoot all the great clouds in electrical storms I’ve flown through in 20 years of frequent flying but alas, better late than never. I also did not have a camera that had an easy pre-set for setting focus to infinity (so as not to focus on the window), turning off flash, opening the iris, slowing down shutter, etc. These were shot with a Canon G3 and cropped with iPhoto.

This was high desert with sandstone canyons and trees. Transition from Western Colorado to Utah.

This is a mid-Utah shot that when cropped could be Mars. Dry river, color shifts…

A highly cropped and blown up river canyon with steep walls. Looks like a dry little (or not so little) Yosemite Valley.

Something tells me this is the Green River but I might be wrong. Notice the depth of the canyon its carving. Very bendy.

Dry river bed, Utah.

More dry river bed in Utah.

Lake Mead (dammed Colorado River).

At the end of Lake Mead is Hoover Dam which I just got before it vanished behind the right wing.

Totally awsome pictures!
