Geese on Frozen Lake

We were taking a walk around our local Lake Waramaug which was teetering between being frozen and not and noticed a large gaggle of geese hanging around on the edge of a melted area. Not sure quite what they were doing there, didn’t look like there was much to eat.
Richard, It’s a mid-winter conference of geese. Lake Waramaug looks chilly, so different from the halycon days of summer.

It almost looks like a moonscape. so beautiful!
Yes, moonscape sums it up nicely. And the gaggle looked like a bunch of ET characters milling around out there, waiting for their space ship to come take them home.
