Reading on Cell Phones
Saturday, March 19th, 2005
WIRED News reports that in Japan people are reading all sorts of things on cell phones including entire novels downloaded in installments: Cell Phones Put to Novel Use.
This is one more story in a long list of convergence stories: tools being re-categorized and recast and re-branded. Who’d have thought the cell phone would become a low end digital camera as well as a PDA? Now a “reader.” What next?
The cell phone is certainly one of the big winners in the convergence shake out and the stand alone PDA will probably die as a result. Palm One is dropping much of it’s work in the PDA market for the Chinese cell phone market, the biggest phone market in the world.
