Education Official Suggests Expansion of Testing: “Margaret Spellings, the education secretary, suggested that the federal No Child Left Behind law could be expanded to include other subjects.”
Ugh! Two things:
1. Margaret Spellings does not credit Tom Peters with the quote she uses:
What gets measured gets done.
– Tom Peters
I would be interested to know if he would approve of No Child Left Behind and the expansion of testing that is not working.
2. A quote from a wise friend (who lifted it but I’m not sure from who):
Many things worth knowing cannot readily be measured. Many things that can readily be measured are not worth knowing.
