Approach to John F. Kennedy Airport
Wednesday, January 25th, 2006
Flying west to east across Long Island, New York, looking north.
You can see JFK Airport clearly in the center. Our approach took us straight out over the Atlantic, then we took a wide left (northeast) turn, then another left turn to face west and we landed on the far runway. Our approach took us over the marshes that you can see between the airport and the beach and the next two shots are looking southeast out the left side of the plane into the marshes and out to see toward New Jersey.
Heading southwest to land at JFK Airport, New York. The sun was setting 90 degrees to the right of our view here. These cargo ships are anchored in outer New York Harbor. That’s the Atlantic Ocean and the eastern shore of New Jersey behind the ships.
The sun was low in the west and it made for interesting light on the marsh as we approached JFK Airport to land.
