SongTrellis Drumming Resources

SongTrellis has a wonderful collection of African, Afro-Cuban and Swing rhythms done in midi which makes them easier to download and hear on a variety of browsers and OS’s.
The rhythms are broken into parts and you can hear them in various tempos. Very useful collection.

Love these, too!! My young son recently did a drumming course as an afterschool activity. I’d been having an emotionally challenging day and the rhythms (esp Acpala) certainly changed my mood, loosening things up a bit. Bintin suggested connections between drumming and juggling? The left hand going at a different pace to the right - ? Or perhaps there are two different drummers. I’ve got a young lad in my life marching to the sound of a different drum. Sigh.
Astryngia: there is certainly a relationship between drumming and juggling. Both are are sensory integrative activities: they force the limbs to cross midline and at times do different things. Lots of brain research on the usefulness of these kinds of activies for development. And, bottom line: both activities are a lot of fun, especially when done with others.
Glad you found the collection of midi rhythms useful. There are lots of rhythms out there in the world, this is just a small sampling. I’ll post more soon.
