Daylilies

Warren, Connecticut. Many years ago I taught a technology course for teachers up in Maine. One of my students, a real “downeaster” named Tom gave me a gift of a pot of daylilies when the course was over. We planted them here and they’ve spread and done well. Daylilies are quite common around here but somehow when I see ours all I can think of is Tom’s incredibly dry wit and his thick Maine accent.
Our daylily “patch” is spreading rapidly and what’s nice about this is that at any one time there are brand new flowers, flowers in full bloom and flowers going by. In other words, the more bulbs, the greater the possibility that they will bloom at slightly different times. Here are two flowers that come from the same branch but are blooming about two days apart. If we really got organized around here we’d go out and find some other lilies that mature a bit later, and some others that mature a bit earlier so this “fireworks” display would last longer.

Great shots!
