Dragonfly high on grass
Saturday, July 22nd, 2006
Washington, Connecticut. A friend and I were walking across a large field of grass, Queen Anne’s lace, milkweed, and other assorted plant life when he spotted this unusual dragonfly. I had an incredibly hard time seeing him and once I did I had to put down my bag, set up the tripod and get the camera with long lens mounted. I was sure that he’d be gone once I got set up but he stayed put. It was another struggle to find him again through the long lens but I did and was able to get a few shots before the wind finally dislodged him from his furry grass seed perch.

I always go to Richard’s Notes after I get fed up with reading the news. Thank you for the photos… the milkweed beetles, the Queen Anne’s lace, the New York rooftop water tanks… all are lovely and uplifting and remind us that there is so much of life that is not violent, not corrupted.

Sheryl: nice to know you’re lookin’ Yes, there are micro-world on earth that don’t seem to be affected by the mess outside them. I suppose if I stopped reading and watching the news our little place in Warren could be like that. Alas, being connected and compulsive makes that near impossible. Peace to you dear friend.
