Dilip: Sounds like good thinking. Don't forget to buy filters for your lenses too. Buy good ones.

Precisely one more reason as to why i'm buying the Canon EOS 400 D. Chennai is quite polluted and i intend to do a lot of outdoor photography and i sure don't want dust on my sensor while changing lenses. I would simply love this even thought Nikon service is a dozen times better in india and canon service hardly exists. I recently did some research on what kind of problems DSLR users in chennai go to the technician for and found that its usually dust on the sensor or LCD related issues. I'm glad cannon came up with this, even thought this might not be the solution to the problem still its one step away from trouble which i think is quite thoughtful of canon.

On that note this review may sound interesting for you, a quick comparisn of the Rebel XTi, Nikon D80 and Sony Alpha A100.

Michaela: This is the future but there's no rush; canon needs to get it on their higher end models (they will) and then you can bite but only if mom hasn't trickled the 5D your way.

Email me your mom's flickr url, it did not get posted above but I'll add it there. Thanks. richard at richardsnotes dot org.

Now they're talking! I know I could use a self-cleaning camera out here. I'm amazed (*knock wood*) that on my recent safari I didn't manage to mess up the sensor during my numerous lens changes! And my mom had to go and buy a 5D, crazy woman, what is she thinking ;o). Incidentally, she's FINALLY posted her images, pre-5D. It will take her some time to learn Flickr, but so far, so good!
