Swamp Maple Lit by Afternoon Sun
Sunday, October 8th, 2006
Warren, Connecticut. The sun was just about to go down behind the hill behind our house and it had the little swamp maple in our backyard lit up like it was on fire. This weekend is what leaf peepers would call “peak” color here in Connecticut. The soft maples like this one are about as dry as they’re going to get before the leaves start falling off and the harder maples, oaks, and other hard woods are just starting to turn but the intensity of their color is less visually stunning.
