Lasse Gjertsen Makes Music
Saturday, November 18th, 2006
Lasse Gjertsen doesn’t play drums or piano but he’s diced up and reassembled small chunks of sound and video into a wonderful composition.
Watch it a few times to pick up on the small stuff. Great.
Note: Scott James, I’m thinkin’ about you on this one.

Lasse is a very creative human being. As a person interested in video editing, I am curious about what tools he chooses for projects like this (I’m sure I could ask him - maybe I will!). How interesting life appears when sliced into the tiny beads the whole necklace is made from. Lasse has pointed us to the fact that music is sound as it occurs in time. Our ability to watch the process is a great example of how video can be a powerful tool for learning and creating. Thanks, Richard, for the grins and spins.
Scott: I knew you’d like this one and are fully capable of making one like it. Let us know when your masterpiece is ready for viewing!
The Wall Street Journal has some follow up on Lasse:
An Unrefined Musician Uses Stop-Motion Video To Play a Catchy Tune
In the article there’s a link to one of his earlier stop action efforts: Hyperactive. Great.
