Holiday Bread
Tuesday, December 19th, 2006
Warren, Connecticut. My wife Anne has been making this holiday bread for over thirty years. The tradition is to have it with a sugary icing and lots of butter on Christmas morning. I have to say, even though Christmas isn’t my holiday, I look forward to this bread which is not quite as eggy as a challah but close.
Note: she made ten of them this year, many to give away.

Tell Anne I think the bread is beautiful and that I am giving the Tassajarra bread book to a friend who wants to learn how to make bread. I have gone through 2 copies myself (they fell apart). I am planning on making 3 swedish tea rings for Christmas morning brunch which will be at Emily’s house this year with her soon to be in-laws.
Looks delicious Richard! I need to learn to bake some I think (or move closer to you!).
Pam, wish we were closer so we could share, I know you bake up a storm too. Please wish Dan, Emily and Sarah our best this holiday and of course, our best to you too.
Jon, yeah, if both you and Pam lived closer you’d be in “hog heaven” as both Anne and Pam can bake and bake well.
