AirPort Extreme Drive Sharing
Monday, January 15th, 2007
New to AirPort Extreme, AirPort Disk turns almost any external USB hard drive into a shared drive. Simply connect the drive to the USB port on the back of your AirPort Extreme and — voila — all the documents, videos, photos, and other files on the drive instantly become available to anyone on the secure network, Mac and PC alike. It’s perfect for backups, collaborative projects, and more.
Now this makes me want to get one of these. I wonder whether SuperDuper! works over a network. Gotta find out…

Nope Dang it! Tried the trial version of Superduper!. Won’t see the drive unless you plug directly into the back of the mac. Did that and setup first backup, then reconnected to Airport Extreme with USB. No dice…guess I’ll wait for Time Machine. Hope it works with a G4 powerbook.
GW: according to Dave (SD author) it will work if you backup to a disk image on your desktop, move it to the shared drive, then make an alias of it on your desktop and backup to the alias. Does that make sense? I’ve not tried this yet but it sort of makes sense to me. I don’t have the new airport anyway so can’t do it yet but if you do I’d love to hear if you can make it work.
