The Kitty is 17 today
Tuesday, March 27th, 2007
Warren, Connecticut. Our cat, "The Kitty" turned 17 today and given what this cat has been through as a "professional cat" living to 17 is akin to one of us living to 100. Here’s the back story I wrote on The Kitty on her 16th birthday.
The Kitty has had arthritis for a few years and it’s hard for her to get around like she used to but she still manages to get worked up over her catnip mice. She survived feline diabetes (in remission), has gone a year with hyperthyroidism, under control now with a "transdermal" application of medication (on her ear tips), and lately her kidneys are giving out which may eventually get the better of her.
I decided not to waste a can of tuna on her, finally remembering that she’s never liked it, ever. Tonight I’ll give her a small bowl of milk and a warm lap to jump up on, made warm from the near nuclear heat of this MacBook Pro.
So Kitty, Anne and I wish you another happy birthday, we’re glad you were born and even more glad that you made it into our lives.

That is so sweet. Happy Birthday Kitty. Your cousin Milly is 16 and Tigger is 14. It is hard to see them so old. But cousin Mower lived to be 21 and he liked his A’Anne who lived with him for a bit.
happy birthday, kitty! i remember you yearsss ago when you were…a kitty
Pam: Mower is a legend around here, even Kitty knows about him. Kitty wishes her counsins good mousing on the farm.
Will, right, you knew her when whe was a wee thing when we lived on Old Forge Hollow. She was out killing stuff at that point though, bears and such. ;)
Mower is now known as “Guru MahaMower”
Pam: Right, sounds like a fitting epithet.
Happy Birthday Kitty!!!!!!
The Kitty thanks you Kristen. She’s having her breakfast now and “yelled” over: “meeeow, mow, meee, ow.” Translation: “Say hi to my friend Kristen, the animal whisperer.”
Happy Birthday Kitty
