California Poppies
Sunday, April 29th, 2007
Flintridge, California. I found a cluster of California poppies off the beaten track at Descanso Gardens and did a small series on the variability in this one square yard of flowers.

The various plants in this cluster were either about to bloom or in full bloom and the intense orange color brought to mind Buddhist monks in their robes.

I do not know why no-one is saying anything, but some of these shots are really very nice in color and atmosphere
David: the comments are up on flickr… Thanks.
You mean, I am the last person reading your blog instead of visiting your flickr site… ;-)
Hey, I’d rather have comments “down” here at this site than up on flickr… as my last few posts may be showing I’m souring on flickr these days and am thinking about how I can relpace it or just move away from it. So David, keep commenting here! ;)
You’re not really thinking of leaving Flickr, are you? Ugh, we need MORE people like you up there. I *adore* these shots. They would make a great set of notecards. I’m going to try my best to channel your “eye” as I explore the Brattleboro environs next Tuesday.
Michaela: there are plenty of people up on flickr who are fantastic photographers and kind as well, I’ve just found that for me, the entire enterprise seems to have peaked. Maybe its just burnout after over a year of very intense involvement, I don’t know.
Have fun up in Brattleboro, I’m sure you’ll find many things to photograph there as the season really flipped in the last few days; we’re in summer now.
