Bill Moyers on Bush-Cheney Impeachment
Saturday, July 14th, 2007
Bill Moyers (finally) starts the conversation on the Impeachment of Bush and Cheney.
After Moyers’ essay Bruce Fein and John Nichols discuss impeachment: Tough Talk on Impeachment; what it means, why the process is useful and good for the country.
What is amazing is that Bush and Cheney should have been impeached years ago and certainly now that we have a Democratic congress they should be impeached now. However, the Democrats and the few Republicans who see Bush and Cheney for what they are are too concerned about their own self-interests to do what’s right for the country.
I’m looking at you Nancy Pelosi. You might redeem yourself if you finally put impeachment back on the table and get on with it.
I have two heros in Congress at the moment: Dennis Kucinich and Russ Feingold. Kucinich is running for President and is the only candidate on either side to make bold statements about Bush, Cheney and Iraq. Feingold is the only Senator to propose censuring Bush and both of them have consistently voted against Bush’s policies unlike others.
Thank you Bill Moyers for having the guts to devote an entire show to impeachment.

You could bowled me over with a feather as the Bill Moyers Journal progressed. Having just watched INSIDE WASHINGTON where the regular pundits agreed smugly that we ignorant folks would have no interest in the utterly contemptuous behavior of Harriet Miers, the erudite discussion with Fein and Nichols was so refreshing.
I am old enough to remember the Saturday Night massacre. That evening the people spoke. I was honored to be amongst them then..I pray that once again we will speak out not only against the monarchy of Bush/Cheney, the craven Congress led by Nancy Pelosi, but also all but a handful of MSM.
Pietr, I too am old enough to remember the 60s and 70s. Nixon, Vietnam war, the works. It was a different world back then: we were different, Congress was different, the media (Woodward and Bernstein) was different. Now Woodward makes money by sucking up to Bush and writing soft criticism that can pass as praise if read in the wrong light.
Moyers is a true believer and has always been. He’s been around, has integrity and is smart.
Thanks for your comment and let’s hope that Bush and Cheney get what they deserve. I happen to think that it would do the country and the world good to try them and others in their administration as war criminals in a world court. Impeachment is too soft a landing for the likes of them. We would survive and undoubtedly be a lot stronger for it. I can wish…
