Replate

Replate is a movement dedictated to making leftover food more available to people who need it by leaving it on top of trash cans.
They’re working on making the word commonplace although I’m not sure the chrome hubcap amd bumper industry is going to like it.

Interesting idea. But trashcans are often not very clean, so it doesn’t seem a good idea to leave the food the way it’s shown in the linked picture. Maybe the next step is to design a simple box for leftover food? Something that closes all the way, and made of recycled material.
Chet, Right, good thinking. I agree that if one is going to do a good deed, maybe best to make sure it’s really a good deed. However, I think the idea behind this is that homeless people are rooting around in the trashcans for the food and this is a simple step that’s easy to make. If you make the step too big fewer will take it. Maybe after this small step your bigger step will make more sense. Thanks.
