Morning Fog on the Shepaug Reservoir
Sunday, August 12th, 2007
Warren, Connecticut. I got a call from my friend Zarinna at 5:30 am this morning: "come quick, the fog looks good on the reservoir." So, I packed up and drove ten minutes up the road to their place, set up my tripod and started taking pictures of the changing light and lifting fog, all the while carrying on a far-reaching conversation with her husband Adil. They see this view every day and while they know it’s an interesting one, they’re enjoying seeing it anew through my photographic eyes.
Note: Color and monochrome versions of the same image. Do you have a preference?

I love the second shot. It is almost unreal. You could imagine this being an image from some kind of fantasy game or movie.
David, Thanks, I’m delighted you like it. I was inspired by Chinese landscape paintings but yes, it looks like some kind of fantasy enrironment.
Beautiful, very peaceful and mysterious. The big question though, did you manage coffee before heading out!?!?!? ;-)
Jon: When Zarinna called she said she’d have some ready for me, which she kindly did.
I am curious what the color version looks like. Mind posting it?
David, thanks for the feedback, I put them both up here.
Definitely, the color version is best…looks like a Japanese watercolor! Sooo beautiful, Richard, it would make a wonderful framed picture.
Fantastic. Thanks Diane. I’m delighted you like it.
I go for the color one too
btw, i like your new dynamic image banner. the only drawback is that some images look so good there that I get kind of disappointed when they get replaced by another image on my next visit.
David: color it is. Prints well too.
Someday I might figure a way to allow clicking through all the headers, stopping on one you like and having that one be yours until you switch it (I’m already setting a cookie so maybe this is possible).
Until then, enjoy the randomness of life.
The first thought that came to mind when I saw the colour picture – like a scene from a National Geographic documentary. Misty and mystical. Is this available on your photo site?
Chet: Thank you for such kind feedback, I’m delighted you like the image.
I have the monochrome version up at my photo site: Morning Fog on the Shepaug Reservoir
But I may replace it with the color version. I’ll save the monochrome notecard template too and if you wanted cards I’d be happy to print them for you in either format, monochrome or color.
very nice
Thank you gedasg. They both printed very nicely too which makes me happy.
