Treadmill Madness or lost in translation

Only in Japan. I don’t know why, and I’m embarassed to say it, but this made me laugh uncontrollably and if I’d been drinking milk it would have sprayed out of my nose.
It could be the “play by play” in Japanese which I don’t understand, or the very idea that someone thought this up and no doubt people are lined up to compete and a lot of people watch (including me). I don’t know what it is but I’m gonna watch it again just to hear myself laugh.
