Dried Peppergrass in Morning light
Monday, September 24th, 2007
Washington, Connecticut. A friend and I got up early to do some landscape photography in early morning light but once out it was hard to resist putting on a macro lens and looking closely at weeds and flowers in that same light. This peppergrass is growing wild in what used to be a cornfield and is now part of the Macricostas Preserve of the Steep Rock Land Trust. The light shining through the dried pods show the seeds of future peppergrass plants waiting to be distributed.

Richard, that’s a very lovely photograph, with fine bokeh. I remember that morning well: what wonderful light and a great natural world to photograph in. I sure had a superb time with you in the Macricostas that day. That only thing that we needed, given the early hour, was one more cup of coffee!
Gary, absolutely, a coffee drip would have been perfect. Man, you are so lucky you didn’t pick up Lyme disease that day. Me too, for that matter. I’m pretty sure I got it later when Jon and I were in the meadow.
Richard: Before we take off for our next round of the Macricostas, let’s put on the natural bug repellent product I have, Bite Blocker. I always bring it with me to Connecticut, but have never used it! Now I’m going to for sure, given that you now have Lyme.
Bring it when you come in December. You never know if those ticks will still be kicking by then.
