Pear Kisses

Warren, Connecticut. Went up to Averill Farm to buy apples, pears, and quinces for our apple pie baking marathon this weekend. Figured I’d get them now so I could photograph them before they get "pied." Got them all washed and lined up regiment style for their group picture.
These bosc pears are maybe the most photographed and painted fruit on earth and I can see why, very photogenic they are. Tomorrow I’ll work on shots of quinces and the various types of apple I got: we like our pies filled with a variety of apples, some pears, and a small amount of quince for bite. This "aggregate" makes for a more interesting and varied texture and taste.

Richard, this a a wonderful, luscious photograph, well seen! I sure wish I was there my camera, photographing away with you before these gorgeous pears, apples, and quinces go into the pies. This particular photograph would make a stunning print.
Gary, I wish you were here too. The good news is you’ll be eating these pies at Christmas, we’ll make both Thanksgiving and Christmas pies on Sunday. And, yes, it’s nice to have such a vast array of fruit subjects or photography, makes it almost difficult to pick which to shoot. I have yet to do pears by themselves, hopefully tonight or tomorrow.
