Another view of Aperture 2.0 vs. Lightroom 1.3

My friend Greg Newman has written a great post on Aperture 2.0 and Why I Didn’t Switch to Lightroom.
Greg has essentially the same computer as I do: 17” MacBook Pro 2.16 GHz. I have the 15″ model of same.
For me, Aperture 2 definitely cleared up some of the speed issues associated with the earlier version but it still feels like an application that was built for higher end hardware than I’ve got. For me, computer comes first, then image editing software: It’s a given that I will not get a desktop computer or even an iMac, preferring to have my entire life as well as image editing on a portable computer.
If I were to buy the newest version of my computer it would come with a faster graphics cards (Aperture would take advantage of that) and the capacity for more memory which Aperture and Lightroom would both like. I’m sure I’ll buy a new computer some day but I’d rather not struggle with Aperture until then. So, it’s Lightroom for me.
