Hauser Bridge and the Shepaug River

The view through a 24-70mm lens at 38mm
Washington, Connecticut. I took another walk in the Steep Rock Preserve, this time loaded for bear, with more camera equipment. There’s something about this bridge and the Shepaug River that it crosses that really captures my imagination. Part of it is that this is a small scale suspension bridge but it’s also that the bridge exists deep in the Preserve and it takes a walk of a few miles to get to it. I hope to return here often.
For these shots I’m on a small rock outcropping on a bend in the river looking downstream at the bridge. I took a series of shots here using different lenses propped on a large dead log instead of my tripod (okay, I had the tripod but I was lazy).

Approaching the east side of the Hauser Bridge across the Shepaug River. You can see the tower and suspension cables on the far side.
Looking back upstream on the Shepaug River from the center of the Hauser Bridge. You can see the rock outcropping I took the preceding images from in the shadows on the right bank.
