Field of Daffodils
Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008
East Litchfield, Connecticut. For each of the twenty years I’ve lived in this area I’ve been going to see the daffodils on a farm in East Litchfield. There are acres of them between rock walls in various fields. Flowers like this on this scale is not something you see every day. Now that I’ve been taking pictures of flowers for a few years, I have to say that daffodils are not my favorite and I don’t find them very photogenic singly. However, a field of them is another matter.
Another view of this image.

Beautiful, Richard.
It’s funny, I feel the same way about daffodils – in that I don’t care much for them singly as a photo subject, but when there’s a sea of them they’re great. This looks like a spectacular place to visit.
I like the dark woods behind this bank of flowers.
Thanks Dale. It was not the best day to be shooting but Anne and I thought it would be nice to see them before they peaked. Actually, I think they already peaked in the last few days.
I got twenty shots and tossed them all except this one. This is the way my photography has been lately. Actually, more like toss them all and save none. Sigh. Glad you like this one.
I think I know where that is. It makes me want to cry. You never see anything quite like that here. However, spring is beautiful in Kansas City and there are baby calves and sheep on our road. Thanks for the memories!
Gorgeous, Richard. I especially like the way you’ve included the angle of the bank. The trees make a great background.
Thanks Pam, I’m delighted you like it.
I used to love going here when I was little!! I used to go with my friend and picnic when they were in bloom….. fantastic!
Caitlin, right, I might have even been here with you when you were a wee one. Shades of our past…
