Eye-Fi wireless SD memory card

This is a secure digital (SD) memory card than when used in a digial camera with some included software installed on your computer pictures you take will automatically be saved on the computer.
This looks quite interesting although I can’t use it as my DSLR uses compact flash cards. This is maybe even more flexible than tethered shooting with a cable. I’ll be curious if anyone reading this has tried it.

I’ve heard some positive things about it - if you can take advantage of its features. For me [with one camera using SD, another xD] its just a nifty toy that I’ll be watching future versions for features/updates, but it doesn’t fit my workflow.
I think it can the mark for both consumers and pros:
pro:
- i shoot raw, it doesn’t support sending to a computer in raw [why not? its just a file transfer?]
- i shoot too much, and never want to send to a service without reviewing and/or post production
its more interesting from a consumer front aside from cost, but I’m not sure that it plays well with in camera editing features most cameras manufacturers push as features [photo is 'gone' before you can edit].
i think the best use of the current Eye Fi features would be in event type cameras or cameras that float around an office or similar situation where the volume can be low, and the desire to share most of the images quickly high.

Maybe the reason it’s particular about file sizes is the sending speed and buffers on either end. If the P&S has no frame buffer (most don’t) then the camera will probably be tied up while the file gets sent. So, if we think these cameras are slow to “recover” from a shot now, maybe this will slow things more.
That’s a guess, I’ve never used one. But, it may be why no RAW as those files are big.
I do like the idea of tethered shooting and that would be my application but alas, my camera uses CF cards, not SD.
