Some conspiracy theorists on message boards are wondering if retailers raise the price of gear just before these types of sales kick in. Have you ever noticed anything like that happening?
Amazon’s current prices are slightly cheaper for some items. The 40D is $50 less and the 17-55mm f2/8 IS lens is currently $40 less.
Mike: Canon recently raised all of their prices, it wasn’t Amazon or other retailers, it was Canon.
This is there normal spring sale which is sometimes a rebate and this time is an “instant rebate” because they’ve had such a rough time with rebate fulfillment.
So, no, this isn’t a retail conspiracy.
