Molten pit surounded by sticky stamen

Pasadena, California. The Huntington Garden. Can you imagine falling into this molten pit, struggling to get out only to find that you can’t get a grip on these pollen encrusted stamen. What a way to go.

I think I could go out and buy every lens in the book, and I still couldn’t get pictures like this. Stunning.
Ernie: This was shot with my least expensive lens, the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 macro. It’s a wonderful lens, fragile but killer optics. It’s even better when used on a tripod but I didn’t have one on this trip. Thanks for the compliment.
Simply brilliant Richard. A gorgeous world to get lost in. Remarkable.
Thanks Scott, it’s fun to check this world out, let me tell you.
