Interactive Graphic on Voting Patterns in Dem Primary

The New York Times has a fascinating interactive graphic on Voting Patterns in Democratic Primary.
Obama, Clinton, money, education, gender, race, all mixed up together. For those of us who can better understand things visually and tactily (multi-sensory learners) this is the bomb.

It’s rather good isn’t it? A great use of flash - simple and very visual. I’ve blogged about it lhere and also the amazingly strong call to actions on each of their websites.
I do some data visualization at work and I thought this was an excellent example of how it can be done simply but very effectively. The animation brings it all together and increase understanding. Very well done!
Well, it’s not just the technical piece that impresses me, it’s the information that one can get out of it. Most of us who follow this have known that the more education a person has, the less inclined toward racism in their views. Sexism may be a different story and it’s quite hard to parse out dislike for Hillary as an individual from dislike of women in general. Education doesn’t seem to help that either. It’s all fascinating and with two candidates like these running this kind of stuff is sure to come out.
Now that it’s Obama against McCain it will be a lot easier to see racism and maybe even ageism. Time will tell.
