15″ MacBook Pro Vertical Striping Issue
Yep, I’ve had this happen once. Restarting computer solved it but it worried me for a few minues until I did. No doubt there will be a recall. Then what? Lose the machine for a few days? No feaking way, this is my sole machine. Ugh.
I haven’t had this happen yet, and sure hope it doesn’t. What a pain it would be to have to send my MacBook Pro back to Apple. Ugh is right.
Hmmm, never see it on my old timer MBP. You’ve seen it on your current model Richard?
I never see it on my old one (first edition) mbp.
No, it’s only on new MacBook Pros like the one I have. New as of the last iteration. I never had it on my old one either. It’s not a huge problem as restarting the machine seems to make it go away. My guess a firmware or OS update will take care of it, not a hardware update. That’s a hopeful guess though.
Fingers crossed it will be easy to solve. My first gen MBP has been pretty good to be fair. It is hot, damn hot, and is not finished perfectly, but apart from that, not bad.
Jon: This model takes more memory and with 4 gigs in there it’s running cooler as it’s not using the disk as much when I really ask Lightroom to do something fancy.
We’ll see. You’ll no doubt hear about the fix online before I do. Let me know.
control-shift-eject will fix the issue. :-)
Fantastic Chris, thanks. It seems to blank the screen which means it no doubt resets the backlight. Great.
