Got Hope?

Los Angeles, California. My 93 year old mother’s Verizon DSL connection has been a piece of crap since we put it in years ago. She’s been offline for a month and I could not get ####ing Verizon to send someone out to help her (I did what I could from Connecticut). I finally convinced her to let me allow Time Warner to put a cable modem in and we were up and running in three minutes. What a difference. Now she can forward her jokes to friends faster than ever and listen to Obama in Berlin. She’s happy and so am I.

Great news Richard and hello Richard’s Mum! She’s s star!
Jon: This new setup is fantastic. Now, thank god, I have a wifi network here that’s at least as fast if not faster than ours back in Connecticut. I might have to get me one of the new AirPort routers as they definitely have more range than the older ones. It’s obvious in this house.
You’re mom is amazing. We have a Verizon card (2 yrs now) as we don’t get DSL or cable where we live. We love it and haven’t had any issues yet. Of course, we are IT professionals and if we can’t fix it we know a few others that can! We love taking our laptop anywhere and have always been able to get on line when we travel.
Pam: What you have is totally different from residential DSL. I can tell you, without a doubt, that over the many years she’s had this service it’s always been bad. But, it wasn’t until recently that Time Warner bought out the old cable company (that did not offer broadband service) so that we could have the option of switching.
She’s still using Verizon for her phones but she’s not happy with that either. I doubt she’d be any happier with an iPhone and AT&T either. I think when you can’t see or hear very well any phone is a problem.
