I'd plant poppies (California, of course), coneflowers, and maybe some nice Asian lilies. Those bees will think they're in heaven (and so will you).

Of course, we have three Asian lilies here, and many varieties of day lily which seems boring by comparison. I do love California poppies though... one of my favs.

We have a lot of bees that come in for the agapanthus bloom, as well as the crape myrtle. They work the other flowers too, but I'm always glad to offer a bit of variety in the bee buffet. ;)

Dale: I'd plant some, can't hurt. If they can't take the heat you'll know soon enough. The bees love them and so do "the photographers."

Very nice, Richard. I like them too, but have not photographed them. Maybe we'll plant some next year, though I don't know if they do well in this dry summer heat in Auburn, CA.
