Beijing 2008 - It’s a wrap

The Big Picture has a great collection of images of the 2008 Olympics in China: Beijing 2008 - It’s a wrap.
Notice that unlike many of the collections circulating around the web these days, these pictures are copyrighted and the photographers who took them are cited.
Tip for people passing collections of great images around stripped of their copyright and citation information: don’t. I recommend not linking to those collections and don’t forward emails with urls to those collections. The less they get page rank the earlier they will die. Those photographs originated somewhere and that’s where you want to link.

BigPicture is back!
ps. canon win…:)
Gedas: I would have to say that history says that this picture means Nikon is winning. There was maybe one black lens in a picture like this last year. This year there are many more. This is because Nikon is making full frame cameras now of high quality. Canon is about to have problems…
Yes I knw that, couple of canon and nikon lenses you can see her. there.
wow Pre-Photokina2008: No surprises to hear that Canon has launched the much anticipated EOS 50D, an upgraded version of EOS 40D.
Yes, it’s all over the news. Now, about that new 5D…
I cant wait for the new 5D replacement. i need full frame. canon are you listening? :-(
Dilip yes, they heard you :)
Gedas, i live in India. That means another 6 - 8 months before they launch the 5D replacement here in India. I’m just counting on an on site trip to Singapore so that i can buy it there cheaper. :)
Dilip and Gedas: If the new 5D is anything like the 50D I may make a sea change to Nikon and get a D700. I’m sick of Canon putting more pixels on their sensors at the expense of image quality and noise.
Nikon seems to have their heads on quite straight these days and their offerings are excellent quality, low noise, just enough resolution, and no doubt great cameras. Of course, the last time I tried to use one I got a headache but maybe I’ve learned enough since so I could figure it out now.
Richard, i heard you. I have the same worries but im somehow positive that the Digic 4 processor would be a better powerhorse to handle this and i feel canon would have sure thought over this and would have done something to compensate for this.
Dilip: Many photographers I respect have skipped the 40D because the sensor has too much resolution and the images have a processed look. That says something to me.
Both the 30D and 5D have a natural feel to them, plenty of saturation but not too much. Just enough resolution but not too much. I don’t want Canon fixing problems with a processor, I want them to put out cameras with sensors that produce clean images, processor or not. Nikon seems to be doing this so it’s not impossible. Canon seems to be heading in another direction.
