Nacthwey’s TED Project released
It is a photoessay creating awareness of a new virulent and drug resistant form of tuberculosis that is spreading.
Update: The Big Picture has larger images here: Nachtwey’s Wish: Awareness of XDR-TB

Co-incidentally i came across this today on the Scientific American.
Warning: If antibiotics won’t work, don’t take them
Woooh, spooky stuff!
Dilip: We’ve known about overuse of antibiotics for quite some time and it’s a delicate balance for sure. I think what Nacthwey, Gates and others are attempting to do is to stop global epidemics by saturation of a particular region with drugs which they might not be able to get otherwise. So, Nacthwey’s wish and his photoessay to help make it happen don’t seem to be running counter to problems with antibiotics that are happening from us in developed countries overusing them.
That’s my take anyway. And, I use antibiotics very sparely. I had to run a course when I had Lyme but I get a flu shot every year so haven’t had flu for over six years and have had no antibiotics for anything else except the Lyme.
