Hyperdrive ColorSPACE memory card backup tool
Monday, November 10th, 2008
Hyperdrive ColorSPACE is a small, battery powered backup unit backing up camera memory cards in the field when you are away from your computer.
Take your memory card out of your camera (it will read any kind of card), place it in the built in card reader in the HyperDrive, copy your images from card to unit and know you have them backed up.
One could achieve the same thing by bringing a portable computer into the field and copying images onto it. But, the computer is bigger, weighs more, requires more power to run, and is more easily stolen. The idea is to copy to the HyperDrive and not erase the card but store it away until one returns home. This will give you redundancy and true backup on the road.
So, for those considering a device like this, the question is, will you ever travel to a place where you will leave your computer at home or bringing the computer will be a liability. If so, this device is worth considering.
