Mumbai under attack
Friday, November 28th, 2008
Good friends of ours lost a cousin and his wife in a restaurant in Mumbai in this terrorist attack. We are so very sorry this happened and wish them our deepest condolences. These same friends generously sent me to India ten years ago and because of them I now have many friends all over the country.
We are thinking of India this Thanksgiving weekend.
Very sorry to hear this Richard :( Shocking events. We live in times when no one is safe from people who are willing to die.
Jon: Well, it’s always been like this in various places on earth, we’ve just gotten used to it.
I’m hoping that things improve in the next four years, if you catch my drift.
Classic Example of how It has been proven time and again that indian lives are taken for granted. (read as cheap)
1. Failure of Intelligence
2. Failure of Media messing up the entire rescue operation resulting in top brass NSG commando’s getting killed.
3. Failure of the Naval Guards who let the terrorists in, in the first place.
4. Failure of the political system that IGNORED the intelligence RAW provided which was deliberately not passed on to the military.
My last ounce of pity for the Indian politicians dried up 2 days back. I see no hope for my nation unless there is a revolt against this useless pseudo democratic system of governance.
It feels even more realistic for me since i’ve hung out with such NSG commando’s in real life at the Officer’s training academy and i know how ordinary people they are like you and me behind their Kevlar vests.
Quite frankly, im angry and im scared shitless. I need to be in delhi and im staying in the Taj from the 8th – 13th. I hope some Pakistani Islamic bonehead don’t get into the place and i don’t get killed. There is much to live and see.
I’m just glad im not a dictator ruling India. I can hardly resist the urge now to nuke Pakistan to non-existence.
