Wordpress resists Canon attempt to take down Fake Canon blog
Chuck Westfall is the Technical Information Advisor for Canon. Fake Chuck Westfall is his satirical alter-ego on the Internet. Canon is not pleased with the latter, and wants the Fake Chuck Westfall blog taken down before customers are somehow tricked into thinking that it’s the real thing.
This kind of stuff makes my head ache. Where to start… better not to start.

I have to give props to Wordpress for standing up to Canon. I can see how Canon would like to shut “Fake Chuck” up. I’m glad they haven’t been able to use their influence and lawyers to stop something that clearly has “fake” written all over it… It would be pretty hard to confuse Fake Chuck for the real Chuck.
Fake Chuck, while incredibly foul mouthed, is incredibly clever. He has many posts where he pokes fun at pixel peepers, mocks the mega pixel race, and the direction of camera technology in general, but he does it in such a technical and intelligent way… Fake Chuck is worth a read if you can stand his mouth.
I agree Johnny. Long live fake chuck and free speech. However, some folks are rather dumb about quoting sources and given Canon’s PR problem with things like error 99 (see the thread at this site) I’d say they have good reason to be paranoid about misinformation going out about them. Not enough reason to shut down fake chuck but enough to want to.
