World Science Festival 2009: Bobby McFerrin Demonstrates the Power of the Pentatonic Scale from World Science Festival on Vimeo.
McFerrin continues to demonstrate his genius. I love this guy.
Listen to what he says at the end: any audience, anywhere on earth can do this. Talk about a nature/nurture question.

Superb. And for me there’s nothing like an audience singing either.
Especially on que as he jumps. I met him a few years ago, absolutely stellar guy.
Bobby is great, period. A really interesting read on the neuroscience of music is “This is Your Brain on Music” by Daniel Levitin. People are hard-wired for music, that’s for sure.
Bobby’s great. Have loved his work for years. He’s been getting better and better at bringing his musical awareness into a larger sphere of discussion about what it means to be human.
He’s a higher plane guy with no pretension.
Thanks for sharing this Rich. I’m not surprised you’re a fan but glad to discover it, and that we have another cool thing in common.
Scott, that’s a great piece and I should find and link to it. A take off on “this is your brain on Tetris” from WIRED a while back.
I’m a huge fan Sandy and he’s just as nice in person as you’d imaging. Pure genius.
