Mt. Greylock, Massachusetts. Loren, Dave and I decided to return to Mt. Greylock to hike another slightly longer trail called The Hopper. It’s about 8 miles round trip and about 2500 feet of grain. We spent two hours going up, an hour on top, and two hours coming down. Those of you who hike like this know that coming down is hardest: knees take a beating. Poles help.
This is an excellent hike, highly recommended. We plan to do it again in winter.

Inspired by you and your hiking buddies, a friend and I hiked today up Bear Mountain by way of Lion’s Head. What a nice hike! Took about 4 and a half hours from the Lion’s Head trail head to top of Bear and back, with a couple short breaks. Longer than we thought, and we really hoofed it.
Thank you for the gorgeous photographs which made me want to hit the trail. Greylock next!
Sheryl, this is great news. If you’d like to come along on one of our hikes just give the word, I’ll let you know when we’re planning another one.
I’d like to recommend another one closer than Greylock which is just north of the Bear Mt parking area and that’s Race Mt and Race Brook falls trail. It’s a bit tougher walk than Bear but well worth it and the overlook from up there is killer good.

Of course, nothing wrong with going to Greylock, it’s a great mountain too with wonderful trails. This Hopper trail was very nice and not too tough.
Gorgeous locale, gorgeous pix. Thanks!
Thanks Alex. I hope you’ll get up here sometime to do this or any other hike with us. Would love to have your company. These are great walks to talk about tin foil and loose handlebars on…
