priceless collection.
there is something very “pre-credit card” about these images.
Ah, the pre-credit card era. Love it. I need to dig out some shots of my folks to scan… Good stuff.
Where was I when guys were wearing all those skin tight shorty-shorts?
When was that ?? Or should I Ask WHERE? It’s a bit like The Village People meet The Captain and Tennille…
Sheryl: I love that site, it’s fantastic. The only thing better would have been to get date and place for all those shots. Maybe he can solicit it later. I’m eagerly awaiting the posting of my folks. He must be seriously backlogged as I sent it a week ago.
Because every photo on that site is tip-top, it occurred to me that he does not publish all that come in. Is it possible that he only receives great photographs?
Anyway, that great one of your folks is a shoe-in, let me know when he publishes it.
Sheryl: Glad you think it’s good enough, I wasn’t sure the re imaging I did on it worked that well but it’s clear enough. I agree, most of the images up there are pretty decent but not overly. I doubt much filtering is getting done. It would be interesting to know.
It is true that the photographic craft of the pictures on the site is sometimes pretty bad, in fact mostly bad in the classic sense.
But there is something powerful about each one—which leads me to believe that his artisitic eye does quite a bit of filtering.
Now I’m curious…
I agree, it would be nice to know what’s going on behind the scenes there. I suppose we could ask…
I just by accident came across the “My Parents Were Awesome” and I took the time to look at every picture, I found myself kinda captivated by it, you see, I don’t have parents, and being raised in children’s home, I often daydreamed of what it would be like to have some. I have always had this idea about what parents should look like but “awesome parents” well I got to say, it was a little hard for me to wrap any kind of idea around that but after looking at all of those people from all walks of life representing generation after generation, I got to say I would have never got the ideal profile. I think it was done right not to get the dates or the stories behind the pictures because from my point of view I got the message that every one of these people, whether they come from the north, south east or west, spanning generations of time and representing so many different walks of life that no matter what, they done what was right, meaning there child never had to daydream, for that it’s apparent that the children of these moms and dad chose to honor them in a way that I find very touching.
Jerry: Good points. Well, it’s done the way you like it… It’s a great site, no doubt.
Jerry:
I like your comment. I find that the search never ends for awesome parents, no matter who you are.
