Bike parking in Japan

Has Japan designed the world’s best bike shed?
This is a great invention and an excellent documentary video. The only possible bottleneck not shown in this video is when ten or more people are waiting to park or retrieve their bikes. In the US things might get ugly.

It really looks clever, but for me, it would be a leap of faith letting my titanium beauty disappear like that! I think I would have to get a bit of an old banger I would use for commuting :-)
Well, since this is for commuters, not for exerbikers I think you have nothing to worry about. Still, I’d trust my Gary Fisher to it.
Great but it would be nice to see if it will work in -30 C with lots of snow! (Doors will be jammed and the bike slide not functioning).
True enough Jonne although Japan doesn’t get the kind of snow Finland does and how many people in Finland are riding bikes in cities when it’s snowing like that? ;)
Some are biking the whole winter. Actually I know quite many e.g. in my workplace. And in Hokkaido they have a climate somehow similar than we are having.
Wow Jonne. I think I’ll stay here in Connecticut and drive ;)
