Olympus PEN ad with Kevin Spacey: “I don’t want to be the camera guy”
This is a new push to make the micro four thirds system a standard by positioning it as the small yet powerful camera system (the un-Leica) for people who don’t want to come off as gear heads or tourists. This ad works well although it might be considered a tad elitist in some circles.
Not sure where he got the second (pancake) lens from. Looked like it was in his back pocket.
LOL, I liked it. A lot, actually. “Don’t be a tourist”.
Jonne: So, are you telling anyone about your 5D MK II and lenses? Seems like if you want to be the “un-tourist” you have to give up that stuff. ;)
well I think it all depend on the end goal sometimes a small pocket camera is great sometime it isent just depends.
wooow great idea, I like it, Kevin Space :)))
Olympus PEN is in my list, it’s great when you need small camera, also g11 not bad too.
Don’t forget the Panasonic GF1, that would be my choice for this kind of camera.
I would also take GF1 at the moment (even if I have E-P1) because of its faster AF. But I believe there will be more interesting options in near future.
Jonne: You mean more bodies in the micro four thirds format are coming out? Will Canon release one?
The concept of the advertising campaign is really good.
But, I am what I Kevin Spacey considers to be “that guy”.
Oh well. I don’t mind being a tourist.
Have a good day folks and keep shooting great picutres.

Arnie: I’m a tourist on steroids. While I get what the ad campaign is all about, many of us have a rather large investment in “full size” gear and have learned how to use it to make nice images. While small is definitely beautiful and also convenient, I wouldn’t dump my “tourist” gear for a four thirds system simply to look cool.
In short, while the ad campaign is fun, it’s kind of offensive.
