New Preston, Connecticut. My wife Anne stretching her toes and feet after yoga class. Anne is in Indiana for a week visiting family and I miss her. Hey, I’m an independent guy, like my time alone for sure and have been having a blast while she’s been gone. However, Anne is my very best friend [...]

Torrington, Connecticut. Last night Anne and I went to another kirtan concert (chanting), this time given by WAH!, an excellent bass player, singer and kirtan leader. She was backed up by a harmonium, a drum set and a percussionist. This was a very different concert from the Snatam Kaur concert we went to recently, although [...]

Washington, Connecticut. Anne has a nice collection of music that she plays behind her yoga classes including work by Snatam Kaur (warning, flash site will resize your browser) who is an extremely talented musician and kirtan singer/chanter. Three members of the group are Sikhs and while both the religion and kirtan have roots in India, [...]

New Preston, Connecticut. While in yoga class I had the idea to take some pictures of poses from the viewpoint of the person doing yoga. There’s something about these various views of pieces of one’s own body that struck me as interesting. The problem is, with this pose both hands are on the ground so [...]

New Preston, Connecticut. There’s something about yoga poses, both whole and part that’s beautiful and anyone who practices yoga appreciates the beauty in even more complex and interesting ways. This is my wife doing uttanasana (sanskrit: uttana = stretched out asana = posture) with her hands in temple mudra (sanskrit: mudra = gesture). She’s bending [...]

My wife Anne and Emily Darling doing an intense session of yoga in our dining room (which we cleared of furniture lest you think it’s big enough for yoga and eating). Anne’s hands and foot. Emily’s foot and hand. Anne’s hand. Emily’s foot. Call me a foot fetishist but there’s something about these yoga toes [...]

My wife Anne (right) and Emily Darling had an amazing yoga session in our dining room and I got to be the hot-shot fashion photographer and walk around taking pictures. It was a blast to work with two beautiful women (even better to know I’m married to one of them). Emily was taking Anne through [...]

Another shot of my friend Emily doing yoga. She and I decided to try black and white for this one and I like it better this way. A bit softer.

I was helping my friend Emily Darling do a preliminary shoot for an album cover for a yoga CD she’s producing with her uncle David. We shot over a hundred images of her in various yoga positions as well as close-ups of parts of her that were interesting illustrations of aspects of yoga. She’s a [...]

We’re sitting around, having afternoon summer cocktails and I notice that my wife can spread her toes in ways I can’t even think about let alone do. I can’t spread my toes sideways at all. She says I can learn to do this by practice. Man, that’s a lot of practice.

Every time my wife Anne does yoga in the house, the cat finds her and “participates.” This is a cat that looks for every opportunity to rub her face up against yours so a yoga pose is a perfect opportunity. Maybe we’ll call this pose “downward cat.” As you can see, she’s after a face [...]
