The Kitty bats these catnip balls around and eventually into the stairwell where they follow gravity’s pull and end up downstairs. It’s a game to see how long they’ll last up here. Somehow this one has remained upstairs for about a week which may be a record.

Got out of the shower to find the Kitty laying in the sun, warming and hairing up my clothes. Yes, I’m the kind of person who sets his clothes out before going into the shower.

Our 15 year old arthritic cat “Kitty” has a routine to warm her stiff old bones: curl up beside the woodstove in the morning (like now as I write this) then as the sun comes up and my wife Anne goes off to school, sneak up on our bed and stretch out in the sun.

The Kitty hates the snow. Her pads got frostbitten one winter when she was lost for six weeks in sub-0 F weather (she’s on her 10th life) and now she doesn’t go out in it. Plus, the cold doesn’t help her arthritis and she seems to know it.

This is an unusual shot: this ball is rarely in the middle of the floor without the cat on top of it. As I was thinking about how to take this shot I heard the cat running toward the ball which meant her hair was about to get on my brand new lens. Gad.

We just had some wonderful visitors from the UK who brought us two bottles of Pimm’s (a gin-based mixer) and we mixed up a Pimm’s based concoction with fruit and lemonade and wow, it’s the bomb. The cat, however, is not happy about the fact that Anne is getting a bit looped.
