Race Brook Falls Trail, Massachusetts. This was taken at a place where the brook drops about six inches on the right of this frame. The turbulence and vortexes caused by the drop on the right affected the water both on the drop and to the left of it thus affecting the reflection of the trees [...]

Race Brook Falls, Massachusetts. On the way down from Mt. Race Loren and I noticed a great reflection in the new ice on Race Brook. To the left in this frame the brook makes a small drop over some rocks making ripples that are freezing in this pool. I’m beginning to see how these wonderful [...]

Walking around New York the other day the reflection possibilities were too good to pass up. These were taken with the new Canon Powershot S100 which I’m quite impressed with. The 24mm angle of view is great as are many of the small ergonomic and image rendering improvements in the camera.

Brook on Paradise Lane, Bear Mountain, Connecticut. We hiked up Bear Mountain yesterday to check out the water flow in local streams but in fact, they were all back to just a bit above normal. Just not enough drainage above this area to cause an extended heavy flow like in southern Vermont where there are [...]

These images are part of a series taken on visits to the Getty Center in Los Angeles, California over an eight year period. When I fly to Los Angeles to visit my now 96 year old mother, we enjoy visiting the Getty Center which is relatively close to her house and accessible to her in [...]

North of Great Barrington, MA. On our way to Mt. Greylock yesterday we stopped at this pond to stretch our legs (and pee). It’s a nice place to stop and most morning’s its got a nice haze over it and a nice reflection.

I was paying the check at a restaurant and saw the shadow, had to shoot it. Not easy to shoot with an iPhone actually. Wish Apple would allow the volume buttons to act as a shutter button.

Schaghticoke ridge, Kent, Connecticut. Dave and I found a new beaver pond on a hike between Rt. 341 and Bull’s Bridge on the Appalachian trail and as we walked down the edge of it I noticed some interesting reflections. The mountain laurel are in bloom along the Appalachian trail in Connecticut. Good time to be [...]

We hiked up on Schaghticoke ridge south of Kent, Connecticut and just on the New York/Connecticut border we found the lower end of a long beaver pond/swamp. We hiked along the eastern edge of it and there were “chews” everywhere where beaver had brought trees down or taken saplings down. We never saw the lodge [...]

Paradise Lane, Bear Mountain, Connecticut. After a dry summer we finally had enough rain to fill some streams and knock a lot of leaves down. Colorful leaves under water make for some interesting photography. The water seems to preserve them like amber preserves things that fall into it.

Race Brook Falls, Massachusetts. Dave and I took a late afternoon hike up Race Brook Falls to Mt. Race and the afternoon light was much better for photography than our usual morning hike, sun overhead situation. We’ve had such a dry summer this is the first time since spring that we’ve seen this much water [...]

Great series by flickr member Fabio Sabatini: Take me home (I ♥ Tokyo cabs). Shot with a Canon 450D and a Canon 100mm f/2 lens. Excellent night work with fun bokeh from the lights.

New York City. Glass covered buildings make all sorts of reflection images possible, including the merging of two different buildings. Modern cities are full of details like this and once discovered they make it difficult to walk around without stopping every few feet to check out a shot. Another image shot this summer with rented [...]

New York City. Gary and I walked across the Brooklyn Bridge and into Brooklyn, then back across and up Broadway to dinner at 27th St. and then to Times Square and back to Grand Central. New York is a lot of fun to "hike," even on a relatively hot and humid day. Note: I rented [...]
